Can a student change the programme they were admitted to pursue at Kirinyaga University?

Yes. Students may apply to change or transfer from their current programme of study to another programme, subject to the University's requirements and available capacity.
Government-Sponsored Students
Government-sponsored students may apply for Inter-School or Intra-School transfer at the beginning of an academic year, within the first two weeks from the reporting date.
An application may be considered if the student:
- Meets the required cluster points for the desired programme.
- Meets the applicable Kirinyaga University subject requirements for the desired programme.
- The desired programme has sufficient capacity to accommodate the student.
Self-Sponsored Students
A self-sponsored student may apply for a programme transfer provided that the student meets the admission requirements for the desired programme and there is available capacity.
Important: Meeting the admission requirements does not automatically guarantee approval of a programme transfer. Applications are subject to the University's applicable regulations and available capacity in the desired programme. -
How do I apply for a change of programme?

Students who wish to change their programme of study should complete the University's Intra-School Transfer Form.

How to submit the completed form
After completing the form, submit it to the University through any of the following channels:
- Email: academics@kyu.ac.ke
- Through the University's postal address.
- By submitting a hard copy to the Registrar, ARSA Office.
Important: Submission of a transfer application does not automatically guarantee approval. The application is subject to the applicable programme requirements, available capacity and University regulations.Tip: Keep a copy of the completed transfer form and any supporting documents for your records.
